“Bubblegum” ep 11 ~ “Memories before love”

During this episode we are taken back in time. We are introduced to the time Ri Hwan and Haeng Ah met, how their childhood, their high school years where. Since the day they’ve met Ri Hwan and Haeng Ah were raised by Sun Young and Joon Hyuk as the four of them were a family. Thinks changed for a while when Joon Hyuk died and out of fear Sun Young send Haeng Ah away. But with Ri Hwan’s help Haeng Ah returned to their side.

Episode 11                 

One day, young Haeng Ah comes home from school and finds her father giving a bath to a boy around her age. She thinks her father finally bought her a younger brother as she wished. That boy was Ri Hwan. The two children got close easily and played together every day. Sometimes they were together even during night. Since Sun Yeong was busy at the hospital, Ri Hwan spent more time at Haeng Ah’s house, being practically raised by Haeng Ah’s father.

Haeng Ah:”Dad, did you buy me a little brother?”

But the two children weren’t just having fun playing. They were also fighting a lot. One day they found another interest. They decided to stop fighting who is the younger and who is the older and get a baby. They asked around every adult they know where babies come from, but they were too young and innocent to understand the answers. When they’ve asked their aunt Gong Joo, her answer was that babies appear when two people have a sweet time. As a result Ri Hwan and Haeng Ah begin eating sweets until they got sick and still they weren’t able to have a baby. Then they’ve asked their uncle form the restaurant and his answer was that babies appear when two people have a drink together. As a result Ri Hwan and Haeng Ah went home and drunk yogurt until they got sick, but still there was no baby. The third person Ri Hwan and Haeng Ah asked about babies was Sun Young, who told them the scientific answer, but the two children couldn’t understand it.

Thinks move on and Ri Hwan and Haeng Ah grew up. They are still together and fighting over everything that happens in their lives. At school, the other students think that Ri Hwan and Haeng Ah are dating since they are everyday together. But if another student confesses that he or she likes Ri Hwan or Haeng Ah, both Ri Hwan and Haeng Ah interfere so that the other will not date anyone. If Haeng Ah has a blind date, Ri Hwan sends his friend to ruin it. Also teenager Ri Hwan is jealous on the boy that Haeng Ah likes. The same time if Ri Hwan gets a love letter from a girl that likes him, Haeng Ah makes sure to tell that girl that Ri Hwan isn’t interested.

Meantime Sun Young fell in love with Haeng Ah’s father. They are a family, raising their children, but Joon Hyuk isn’t ready to accept Sun Young’s feelings and marry her. One day he took Sun Young out and asked her to wait for him another year, until Ri Hwan and Haeng Ah are old enough. After that Joon Hyuk will be ready to accept Sun Young. Unfortunately during the year she was supposed to wait, Joon Hyuk got hospitalized and died. Disappointed that Joon Hyuk died and didn’t fulfill his promise to accept her, Sun Young didn’t want to take Haeng Ah if after Joon Hyuk’s death. No matter how much Ri Hwan insisted that his mother should take Haeng Ah, Sun Young didn’t give in and Haeng Ah was send to an aunt she never met in the countryside. But there was also another reason Sun Young send Haeng Ah away. She was afraid that if Haeng Ah would be close to her, than Sun Young would hurt her, would throw her away and they feel sorry for her.

After a while since Haeng Ah left, Ri Hwan went to see her. Seeing the way Haeng Ah was there, Ri Hwan made a plan to bring her back. Then he called chief No, their uncle from the restaurant for help. Like that Haeng Ah returned home and was raised by Sun Young.
